Sedona

"There is something special in Sedona, Arizona," according to my uncle. He experienced a vortex* at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. My first "ohm" picture is where his happened. Although, I think we can all say that Sedona is special; the pictures don't do it justice. I visited Sedona on my cross-country road trip; this leg of the trip was with my aunt, whom I call “Auntie.”

*A vortex is a spot where energy leaves or enters the earth. Some say that these places are portals for spirits. There are four main vortexes reported in Sedona, and you can go to each of them.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross was built in 1956, designed by architect August K. Strotz, but envisioned and commissioned by Marguerite Brunswig Staude. This Catholic Church is built into one of the buttes. It is absolutely stunning to see with the scenery around it.

Son Silver West Gallery

We had a great time taking pictures with the funny figurines. They also have really nice cultural items to purchase here.

There are tons of hikes in this area. This is a good website to help you choose.

Slide Rock State Park is a 12-minute drive north of Sedona on 89A.  Here, you can slide down slippery rocks naturally formed by the Oak Creek. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Arizona. If you have kids you can spend a lot of your day here. It was highly recommended to me by my cousin and my friend Ellen to take 89A on the way to the Grand Canyon. 89A is a very scenic drive. We drove along the portion from Sedona to Flagstaff.

89 Agave Cantina

This restaurant was recommended by my friend, Ellen, who lives in Flagstaff. She told us to get the tamales, and we were glad we did - those were the best tamales we have ever had! We highly recommend this place.

L'Auberge de Sedona is Auntie’s favorite hotel/luxury resort in Sedona. It has cabins nestled onto the rocks overlooking a creek. One of her favorite things to do in Sedona is to get lunch along the creek here.

*Road trip route from here: Prior to Sedona, I was in Tombstone, AZ with my cousin. After Sedona, we headed to the Grand Canyon.
